Trauma and Essential Oils
- BA – Princeton University
- MD – College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University
Dr. Birkmayer co-developed AromaGnosis with his wife, which combines Jung’s model of the psyche & the unconscious with aromas (essential oils) as powerful allies to facilitate psychic evolution and healing. (You can find out more at aromagnosis.com.) Dr. Birkmayer said, “I find this approach is really helpful for people with trauma-related issues, including PTSD and substance abuse (really self-medicating) and anyone who is struggling with being in their power.” He aims to teach people how to embrace personal transformation so that everyday challenges and obstacles become stepping stones for growth.
A fun fact about him is he’s originally from Austria but now lives in an Earthship in Taos. In his free time, Dr. Birkmayer enjoys hiking, skiing, sustainability, wilderness, distilling essential oils, and hydrosols.
Dr. Birkmayer sees PTSD & Trauma-Spectrum (“Borderline”), Depression, and Bipolar patients Tuesday and Thursday 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. via Telemedicine. These times may be expanded upon in the future.
